SunTrust Promotes Jenner Wood, Elevates Allison Dukes to head Atlanta Division

ATLANTA – SunTrust Banks, Inc. (NYSE: STI) announced today that Jenner Wood, Atlanta Division chairman and CEO, has been named corporate executive vice president, reporting to Mark Chancy, SunTrust Wholesale Banking executive.

Wood will assume a senior role serving Wholesale Banking clients across the country as part of the company’s growth strategy. In addition, Wood will become chairman of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, effective December 10. He currently serves on the Chamber’s executive committee.

Chancy also announced that Allison Dukes has been named SunTrust Atlanta Division chairman and CEO, succeeding Wood.  Dukes has been serving as president of the SunTrust Atlanta Division. Both appointments are effective immediately. 

“Allison Dukes is a highly respected leader at SunTrust and has broad experience to lead our team in Atlanta,” said Chancy. “She understands the complete capabilities of SunTrust – from commercial banking, to private wealth management, to the capital markets products of SunTrust Robinson Humphrey. This experience will benefit our clients as we advance our ‘OneTeam’ approach.” Dukes will report to Beau Cummins, Commercial and Business Banking executive.

Wood began his career with SunTrust in 1975 in the Commercial Banking unit. He advanced through various management positions in the Correspondent and Corporate Banking Divisions, and served as head of Trust and Investment Management, as well as the line of business manager for Trust and Investment Services. He was elected chairman, president and CEO of SunTrust Bank, Atlanta and SunTrust Bank, Georgia in 2001. Wood’s civic responsibilities include positions on the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation, the Sartain Lanier Family Foundation, Jesse Parker Williams Foundation, Camp Younts Foundation, and the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee. He serves on the corporate boards of Southern Company, Oxford Industries, Inc. and Genuine Parts Company.

A native of Atlanta, Dukes most recently served as president of the Atlanta Division. Previously, she was co-head of SunTrust’s private wealth management business. During her career at SunTrust, she has held leadership positions in corporate and investment banking, finance, and private wealth management, including managing director and head of syndicated finance originations for SunTrust Robinson Humphrey and chief financial officer of Consumer Banking and Private Wealth Management.  Dukes began her career at SunTrust in 1997 as an analyst in corporate banking. Dukes serves on the executive board of Junior Achievement of Georgia and the United Way of Greater Atlanta’s Women of Tocqueville Cabinet.
