SunTrust Rebrands Community Development Group to SunTrust Community Capital

May 6, 2008

SunTrust Banks, Inc. has announced that its unit focused on community development has been rebranded from SunTrust Community Development Corporation to SunTrust Community Capital, effective May 1.

According to Chris McGillis, President and CEO of SunTrust Community Capital, the change in names better reflects the group's comprehensive solutions for economic development initiatives in underserved communities.

"We offer a wide array of products and services focused on providing capital to support sustainable communities across SunTrust's footprint," said Ms. McGillis. "Our previous name conveyed a limited, narrowly focused view of our capabilities. We determined that a name that reflects the true breadth of what we do would help our clients and the communities we serve understand the full scope of what we can do to help them succeed."

With roots going back over two decades, SunTrust Community Capital provides resources and expertise in markets served by SunTrust to enhance the quality of life in low to moderate income communities through affordable housing, historic preservation, neighborhood revitalization, and small business development. Among the many services provided by SunTrust Community Capital are funding for single source financing, equity investments and debt, along with the broad array of products offered by SunTrust Bank.
