SunTrust Aligns with the National Small Business Association

Partnership marks beginning of campaign to help small businesses combat fraud

Oct 25, 2007

SunTrust Banks, Inc. , today, announced a strategic partnership with the National Small Business Association (NSBA) designed to survey small business owners on how they protect themselves against fraud. The joint effort will last through January 2008.

SunTrust announces this partnership on the heels of launching the bank's Fraud Inspector(SM) feature -- the most recent enhancement to its Online Cash Manager(SM) banking product for businesses. SunTrust is the first major bank to offer this type of feature to small business owners. It was designed to help small businesses identify and curb potential fraud on their deposit accounts before it affects them. In addition to providing a tool that will help business owners identify fraud, SunTrust also provides educational resources on the topic that will help encourage business owners to take steps to protect their businesses.

"With the success of small businesses at the forefront of our mission, we are proud to partner with SunTrust in finding out just exactly how wide-spread and damaging fraud can be to a small business," said Todd McCracken, President, NSBA. "NSBA is keenly aware of the issues facing its small business membership, and security in financing is key. This partnership represents a natural synergy of resources and knowledge, and will enable us to bring a very important issue for small businesses to light."

The strategic partnership will incorporate an independently conducted SunTrust and NSBA survey to highlight specific issues surrounding fraud in small businesses, and will include educational tools and resources that owners can use to empower themselves in protecting their businesses.

"SunTrust understands the unique challenges for business owners and provides solutions to address their needs," said SunTrust Corporate Executive Vice President Gay Abbott, head of the Company's Commercial line of business. "We believe that this partnership will effectively expose our business capabilities to an even larger part of the small business community. NSBA is an exemplary advocate for small business and we appreciate the opportunity to share ideas and resources to help business owners protect themselves against fraud."
