SunTrust Earns Recognition from Georgia Oglethorpe Award

SunTrust Banks, Inc. announced today that its Core Commercial banking unit has earned a 2007 Georgia Focus Recognition award from the Georgia Oglethorpe Award Process, Inc. The Georgia Focus Recognition is the first step in seeking the state's highest organizational performance excellence award -- The Georgia Oglethorpe Award.

SunTrust was recognized -- along with a select group of other organizations -- at the Georgia Oglethorpe Annual Conference and Awards Banquet on September 26-27 at The Loudermilk Center in Atlanta.

Founded in 1996 and named after Georgia's founder, James Edward Oglethorpe, the Georgia Oglethorpe Award is based on the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award criteria for performance excellence. Georgia Oglethorpe is a non-profit, public private partnership located at the Georgia Department of Labor. It provides education, assessment, feedback, and recognition designed to improve organizational performance.
