Community Banks in the Spotlight; SunTrust Robinson Humphrey Hosts 'SunBelt' Community Bank Conference

Thirteen community banks based in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic will make presentations to retail and institutional investors at the SunTrust Robinson Humphrey Sunbelt Community Banking Conference on Tuesday, September 24.

The conference, to be held at the Crown Plaza Milan-Buckhead in Atlanta, will spotlight community banks ranging in size from $638 million to $6.8 billion in assets, much smaller than the leading national and international financial institutions. But the size of these smaller banks can, and often does, operate in their favor as they focus on specific markets and niches.

"Small cap banks have been one of the sole sources of strength in the stock market for the past couple of years," said SunTrust Robinson Humphrey Banking Analyst Christopher W. Marinac. "The Sunbelt region of the U.S. boasts excellent demographics and growth prospects, which carry on despite the slower national economy."

Banks making presentations will include Alabama National BanCorporation (ALAB), based in Birmingham, Ala.; BankAtlantic Bancorp (BBX), based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; BankUnited Financial Corp. (BKUNA), based in Coral Gables, Fla.; Capital City Bank Group (CCBG), based in Tallahassee, Fla.; Columbia Bancorp (CBMD), based in Columbia, Md.; F.N.B. Corporation (FBAN), based in Naples, Fla.; First Financial Holdings, Inc. (FFCX), based in Charleston, S.C.; Florida Banks, Inc. (FLBK), based in Jacksonville, Fla.; IBERIABANK Corporation (IBKC), based in Lafayette, La.; Main Street Banks, Inc. (MSBK), based in Atlanta; Republic Bancshares, Inc. (REPB), based in St. Petersburg, Fla.; Seacoast Banking Corp. of Florida (SBCF), based in Stuart, Fla.; and United Community Banks, Inc. (UCBI), based in Blairsville, Ga.
