SunTrust Unveils Annual Report for Kids

Mar 26, 2002

Concurrent with distribution this week of its formal 2001 annual report to shareholders, SunTrust Banks, Inc. has also unveiled a special "Annual Report for Kids."

The Kid's Report is available at . The report includes a "kid-friendly" discussion, aimed roughly at ages 9-11, of various highlights of SunTrust's business, strategies, priorities and performance highlights.

According to SunTrust Chairman and CEO L. Phillip Humann, the idea of creating a Kid's Report grew out of SunTrust's stepped-up emphasis on improving performance and customer service, which in turn has increased demands on its own employees.

"SunTrust is successful because our people work hard. We ask a lot of our employees -- and they deliver," said Mr. Humann. "Inevitably, work-related demands sometimes conflict with family priorities and this may not be understood by younger children. So we thought it could be helpful to provide a tool to help our employees explain to their kids what SunTrust is all about, why our business is important, and where they fit in."

While the Kid's Report was developed originally for SunTrust employees, Mr. Humann said its messages are not limited to any single company. "We would be delighted if people beyond the SunTrust family find this report of value in explaining what a bank like ours does and why it matters," he said.
