E. Michael Westerman Named Chief Technology Officer at SunTrust

SunTrust Banks, Inc. announced today that E. Michael Westerman has been named Chief Technology Officer for the company. Westerman will have direct supervisory responsibility for all technical operations and activities of the company, including systems development, network services and computer operations. In his new capacity, Westerman will be based in Atlanta reporting to Robert C. Whitehead, Executive Vice President and the company's Chief Information Officer.

"Mike Westerman has proven experience in setting strategic technology vision and managing toward that vision," said Whitehead. "He has demonstrated the ability to drive significant change within large organizations, and we are looking forward to having him become part of the technical team at SunTrust."

Westerman joins SunTrust with extensive experience in the financial services industry. He spent his career working for companies such as American Express, Ocwen Financial Corporation, Citigroup, Norwest Mortgage (now Wells Fargo) and Old Kent Mortgage. His appointment as Chief Technology Office for SunTrust is the latest step in SunTrust's commitment to the information services area.
